To The 2008 ECYF Jr. Pee Wee Cheerleaders and Parents:
The toughest time during the entire season for me is
clinic week. When I see you guys giving 100%, it’s really
hard to know that some of you even though you’re working
hard, giving it your all, will not make the team. I know
this is a very emotional time for you, but I want you to
know it’s also a very emotional time for me as well.
Now putting all that behind us, you should be proud of
yourselves. You are a member of the 2008 East County Lions
Jr. Pee Wee squad. I feel one of the best teams in the East
Bay……So congratulations….YOU MADE IT!
I first coached the Jr. Pee Wee squad many years ago, and
then I returned to the Jr. Pee Wee squad in 2006. So this
will be the 6th year I have actually coached the Jr. Pee Wee
squad, the 3rd consecutive year. I except to have another
great team this year. So I want to challenge the 2008 Jr.
Pee Wee squad to continue the tradition of having a
“winning” season. Let me explain that in my book having a
“winning” season doesn’t mean winning a trophy, or placing
in a competition. It means being dedicated, having a
positive attitude, being able to persevere no matter what
happens and being willing to work hard to accomplish your
goals.
I know for some of you, this will be your first
experience on a competitive cheer squad. We have a lot to
accomplish in a very short time frame. But with everyone
giving 100%, I believe we can be successful.
I say this every year, but since it still holds true I
will say it again. I am “BLESSED” to have Darla and Brittani
coaching with me. They are like my right and left hands. We
have coached together for so many years that we know what
the other is thinking without saying a word. All of our Jr.
Coaches from last year have also returned. Ariel Jackson,
Destinee Garcia and Kayla Towry. They were all at clinic
week. I am happy to say that our Jr. Coaches have proven to
be a big part of our coaching team. They are definitely
assets and vital contributors to our past and hopefully
future success. All of us are excited and can’t wait to work
with you.
Get ready, because we plan to push you to your limits.
Hopefully bringing out skills that you didn’t know you
possessed. As always we hope that at the end of the season
you can say that you worked hard, learned something new, and
had some fun! But as with anything worthwhile, it will be
challenging and will take hard work.
So, I pose this challenge to you. To have a “winning”
season. We (coaches) know it will be challenging for us to
come up with new and exciting things, but we feel we’re up
to the challenge. What we want to know from the 2008 Jr. Pee
Wee squad is….. ARE YOU UP TO THE CHALLENGE?
As I always say…..Remember you don’t have to be the
best…. you just have to “SELL IT GIRLS!” |
